Sometimes what might be obvious to us might not actually be quite so obvious, so here’s a quick list of frequently asked questions which build on the foundations laid in the Help section.
Expect this to expand as we get more people asking us how to do this or that.
Gesturing on the virtual thumbsticks causes the rider to try various tricks. The trick the rider attempts is based on what’s happening at the time. If you are in the air you’ll try a grab, on the ground you might try a jump (gesture up) or tail press (hold up on one stick and down on the other), if you are near a lip and you pull down you should try a handplant.
Here’s a breakdown of the first-touch thumbstick controls once you are in the air and ready to show off:

If the thumbstick is appearing and the trick icon grows as you slide towards it, you know the device is registering the input. If it isn’t doing these things, try cleaning the screen or restarting the device.
If you are getting the right responses, then try holding the trick down a little longer. You don’t get the points, or the trick counted, until the rider actually grabs the board and completes the move. Some moves take longer than others to complete and get the judges’ tick of approval.
Each trick has an icon which appears when it is available showing the outline of the trick.
What’s more, the grabs are arranged so that the direction of the thumbstick matches where the hand will grab. Up is the nose of the board, down is the tail, and (assuming you’re not riding fakie) left is heel-side and right is toe-side.
